As well as being modern, stylish and gloriously quirky, this dreamy houseboat enjoys an enviable position on a grand estate. Spend your trip discovering the nearby market town of Richmond (3.5 miles) and take serene countryside walks, followed by romantic evenings looking out over the water. Floating peacefully alongside its own jetty on a private lake, the property offers an enchanting stay that’s ideal for couples. The approach down to the water is lit up by fairy lights – wonderful if you’re arriving after dark. Step on board to discover a spacious open-plan living space decorated in restful greys and creams, with plenty of windows letting the light in. Whether you’re dining at the cosy table or sinking into the plush sofa, you can lap up the spectacular views of nature. One-off furniture pieces, nautical decorative touches and fine artwork appear throughout, from the wood-floored living space to the king-size bedroom adorned with a fairy-lit four-poster bed. Outside, you’ll have decked verandas at both ends, plus a hot tub and a bistro set – fabulous for unwinding with water and wildlife all around you. You’ll have a lovely pub just under 1 mile away in Gilling West, while Richmond beckons with its cobblestone square and majestic Norman castle, which stands high above the River Swale offering incredible views. Whether you fancy golfing, a leisurely walk along the water or a slap-up meal in one of many of Richmond’s eateries, you’ll find plenty to do. Another one for history lovers is the impressive ruins of Easby Abbey, which sits just outside Richmond (4 miles). Barnard Castle (12.5 miles), a town celebrated for its independent shops, cafes, art galleries and esteemed Bowes Museum, is another fantastic option for day trips.
