Coniston Reviews

Property was clean and warm when we arrived. Bedrooms spacious and beds comfortable, kitchen well appointed apart from serving dishes. The television in the lounge was not a Smart t.v. as described in the description, there were two controls which was confusing, we could only get freeview. The central heating kept depressurising, I had to on youtube to find out how to repressure the boiler. The decking was in a poor state it really needs some TLC on the plus side the pool was fantastic, beautifully clean. Fantastic setting beside the smaller lake.
We arrived at South Lakeland and the recetion didnt know which lodge we where staying in. Process of elimination and trying different key boxs and we where in. Had leave the car at reception as they wouldnt open the barrier. In general the lodge was clean inside, outside was covered in tree debris. Hot tub was great. The water went off for around 6 hours, no shower, heating, toilets etc. Power tripped twice, apparently its the toaster. Pool is very expensive to use. Retaurant food was good, service is terrible. Overall 710

Just had a lovely stay in this lodge, lovely view and beautiful surroundings, so peaceful and tranquil. The lodge is so spacious, comfy beds and everything you could need for a short break away. The Hot Tub was lovely and hot with great views overlooking the lake, would definitely recommend and would stay again
Second time staying at this lodge Its lovely my family really enjoyed it ... Second time staying at this lodge Its lovely my family really enjoyed it Nice touch was bottle of Prosecco sweets and crisps and also a gorgeous chocolate fudge cake left for us on arrival We will stay here again
Hot tub water was murky and never attended to on daily basis as other places we go to. TVs antiquated with no smart tv in any of the 4 rooms. No hand towels for 6 guests and the towels provided were not bath towels . No bath mat in shower room and no sink plug. Mattresss in twin rooms need replacing.
Jodene
Beautiful accommodation in a peaceful setting with picturesque views over the pond. Accommodation was well equipped with everything you could need and was clean and the beds comfy, hot tub was an added bonus. We had a lovely stay here however would note that the main lakes in the area are approximately an hours drive away. Guest should be made aware that you require the key fob to open the barrier to drive to the lodge and therefore as you need to get this from the key safe you need to park at reception and walk a small way to the lodge which isnt far however it was pouring with rain when we arrived and therefore wasn't ideal especially since there were people within our party with mobility issues, as this is a private rental I am not sure how they could get around this but I think guests should be aware. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Nichola
The Lodge was lovely, overlooking a small lake on a quiet site. 2 small welcome packs one with cleaning sponge, dishwasher tablets, bin bag and cloth the other with coffee tbags sugar and biscuits a nice touch. Clean, recently replaced carpets and vinyl flooring. Well equiped kitchen with plenty of pots and pans, washer dryer, microwave, hob, oven and fridge freezer Beds very comfortable, showers roomy and powerful. The hottub was great. Vaccum, mop, brush, maden and highchair provided if needed. The TVs were ok but could do with updating, remote didn't work in the lounge, it was very difficult to select channels. Bluetooth speakers in the lounge, easy to connect to. The decking could do with a bit of a spruce up but this is only cosmetic its not damaged, secure for our dogs. No shop on site, but there is a Booths and Tesco a short drive away. Overall we've had a relaxing few days break.
All in all the property was ok however it is starting to need a bit of TLC, in particular the decking. With regard to preparation, i doubt if the hot tub had been cleaned properly as there was scum marks at the high water level and on day one so much foam formed that the wind was blowing lumps off, a previous occupants food was left in the freezer and the TV remote didn't work. To finish on a high, the beds were great.

Genuinely had such a lovely weekend here, cant fault it at all. I wish we could have stayed longer!
This was our second stay at Coniston lodge. Perfect size lodge for our party. Really enjoyed the hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. The mattresses in the third bedroom are very soft. The only thing that let it down for us was the maintenance of the decking its starting to look tired.
Jessica
We really enjoyed our 4 nights here, very clean lodge, very spacious in all the bedrooms and beautiful view overlooking the lake, we had one slight issue with towels but the owner of the lodge was very quick to sort this and more towel delivered within hours amazing communication. One thing I would just recommend is potentially getting plastic cups and glasses with being around the hot tub on an evening, we luckily brought our own plastic glasses with us, but would say this would be the only thing missing.
The lodge was perfectly located. Exactly what we wanted in size. However it was not cleaned properly prior to our stay. We found hair and leftover food in the freezer needs a good clean. Nothing had been moved on the work surfaces and just lightly whipped around. I also found a bra in the main bedroom drawer. The weather was nice so we wanted to use the patio furniture. It wasnt in the best condition. Parasol was broken and the furniture was full of cobwebs and rusty. In fact the full decking area needed a clean. The hot tub lid was broken and the water didnt seem clean, it was full of little blue plastic bits and leaves. We did question if it had been treated. We did however enjoy our break. It was just the cleanliness that disappointed us.
Very nice and clean
Lovely lodge set beside a lake. Had a few issues with the boiler but this got sorted out quickly. The lodge was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Great hottub. Would definitely recommend to friends.
The property was spotless. . one of the best we've have stayed in, lovely location, lovely pitch around a small man made lake. The cabin was spotless when we arrived, just beautiful. We have a great stay and we would recommend this property.
Antonio
What I am about to write is not criticism, it is only suggestions. The cabin is fantastic but only needs couple of points of attention!! There is no light above the three steps to the cabin. At night, one cannot see them and on a rainy night can be hazardous. A motion sensor light above the steps solves the problem. The six dining chairs should be faux leather so can be cleaned properly by anyone, instead they are made of cloth material and stained badly. It makes the guests reluctant to sit on them. Finally, could you add 4 teaspoons plus a pair of scissors to the utensils, please
The lodge was lovely I gave 4 star rating not 5 star as booked for a week over ... The lodge was lovely I gave 4 star rating not 5 star as booked for a week over Christmas with our grandchild Only thing the lodge lacked was an Xmas tree I have stayed in the site every Christmas for the past 4 years and we have allways had a tree provided That said I couldnt fault the lodge it was lovely and would book again
Charlotte
Absolutely stunning
Jacqueline
This is an honest review of our stay The lodge is lovely, overlooking onto the small lake, although lodges are quite close together on the lakeside so lack privacy. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was nice and big with useable space, plenty of crockery, utensils etc but only 5 mugs. I recommend plastic glasses be provided for outside drinking I took my own Living area nice, comfortable and spacious. Parking for 2 cars. Outdoor sitting area. Had to walk up to the lodge to collect keys then back down to open barrier to allow us to enter. Only one key and fob supplied, we had two cars so asked for an additional fob the following day and this was refused bluntly by the manager at reception no explanation as to why so this prevented us from asking anything again. Note the restaurant is only open WedSun so check website for accurate information. Spiders! There were cobwebs and spiders inside the living area and on the outside of lodge above external doorswindows we saw other lodges being cleaned with a brush to get rid of them. The veranda didnt look like it had been swept so one of our party swept it and brushed the cobwebs from the glass around the veranda inside and outside as the glass was dirty. Could I recommend you put an external light near steps as two of us tripped going up and down. Hot tub is not very private, it also didnt have a handle to openclose the lid so unfortunately it was only used three times in as it was too heavyawkward everywhere weve been its used at least one a day. Hot tub hours 10002200 I would have an expected earlier start like 0800. The hot tub was not maintained once while we were there for chlorinesafety levels everywhere else weve stayed its checked daily. TV remotes had batteries missing and in one bedroom the back of remote and one battery was found at the back of lower shelf in cabinet obviously lack of attention to detail. Toilet paper was found under a bed was there when we got there as my dog found it. Unfortunately because lack of external cleanliness lack of attention to detail non maintenance of hot tub, no external lighting and lack of privacy we wont be returning to this lodge.
Its was were nice
Nicola
Lovely place, accommodation was as described however all the carpets were soaked through on our arrival and the smell of dog urine was horrendous. The carpets had obviously been cleaned before we arrived but hadnt dried out at all. Having all the doors and windows open made it bearable however every morning it hit us and was so strong. The lodge was equipped with everything you need and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was just a shame about the carpets and the odour. The site is a lovely place and the hot tub was fabulous.
Stacey
The lodge was beautiful, very clean, tidy and cozy, only thing that werent clean was the decking but itd been windy so can expect that. Hot tub amazing and was enjoyed by all. We were promised WiFi and to be honest we wouldnt of booked the property if we knew we didnt have it as me and my husband work from our computer's and had to buy extra data, we also had two teenagers with us who couldnt use their phones when in the lodge, as I werent provided with a direct number for the owners I tried to get in touch with Sykes cottages but had no reply, if the property had WiFi we would stay again but as is with no WiFi we wouldnt and I think you should update your advertisement on your website as its false advertising and very misleading to future customers.
