Station House Reviews

The perfect home from home. Comfortable beds and sitting room, clean and very well equipped! Even have an airfryer!
We spent a week here and could easily have stayed longer. Upon arrival, the cottage was so warm and inviting...spotlessly clean. Its beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The hot tub and log fire add perfectly to the whole experience. We spent our days walking our dogs exploring the local area and this house was the ideal cosy haven after the chilly outdoors. Will definately do a return trip.
We had a fabulous time, the cottage had everything we needed and more. It was cosy, warm on arrival, WIFI issue was sorted quickly. Shower was great, we didn't bother with the hottub so can't comment on it. We slept well, such a quiet and nice area! The owner needs an extra mention, being nice, helpful and welcoming. If possible we'd book again. If you love sheep, it's the place to come to.
This was our second visit to the cottage and again it didnt disappoint. The house is lovely and cosy especially at night with the log fire. The hot tub rounds off a great day after a day of exploring. Great communication with the owners who answered any questions we had. Hosts were great at recommending places to go and visit. We will definitely return to the station cottage
We loved our stay at station house, beautiful and secluded. It is one of the best equipped holiday cottages I have ever stayed in. The fire was cosy and the hot tub under the stars was magical. My daughters loved the garden with the sheep as neighbours. Thanks so much. We will be back

Everything was as described, just one very minor thing, would have really liked a wine glass to use, I totally understand pastor outside use.
Darren
Beautiful cottage everything we needed and more, we really enjoyed the hot tub after long days out visiting numerous places on the nc 500, perfect location would highly recommend.
Lovely house on large plot, dogs really loved exploring the garden which was very secure. Lovely comfy beds in all 3 bedrooms. Really well equipped with almost everything we needed. Only thing we would suggest to add would be a toilet brush in the bathroom and possibly a welcome folder with details of local eateries, supermarket, place of interest. Would return next time we visit our relatives. If you love a cake and coffee we recommend a visit to The Forse of Nature, The Bothy River and Wickers World on the harbour in Wick also does a great breakfast. Finally wanted to mention the amazing sunsets viewed most evenings from the comfort of the kitchen and living room.

Great stay in Station House. Lovely well kept property and pics don't do it justice. Lovely area and friendly owner. I would recommend and would be happy to visit again.

This was a fantastic holiday home to stay at a real home from home well decorated and maintained comfortable warm easy reach of all towns enclosed which was perfect for dogs quite not over looked and able to be in the sun right the way around the property hot tub was amazing and just added that final to our stay

Lovely cottage, very nicely restored, great facilities, lovely home comforts, nice hot tub! super helpful owner. Nicely located to see the local sights. Highly recommend!

Station House is a lovely, warm, well appointed cottage. It is a perfect base to explore Caithness and beyond. The owners are very welcoming but not intrusive. The kitchen is very well equipped, it also has a large table. The beds are really comfortable. The bathroom is excellent. The cottage is very dog friendly. There is a dog bed with blanket in the kitchen. The garden is well secured for most dogs. It is however on a working sheep farm. We kept our dog on the lead when in the garden for this reason. There are though several dog friendly, livestock free beaches within easy reach. A day trip to Orkney is well worthwhile. Overall we had a fantastic stay. A really nice house to stay in and plenty to do and see nearby. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Station House and we will be back for another stay. Location is excellent for exploring the NC500. The cottage itself had everything you will require for your stay and the enclosed garden was perfect for the dog he had never had so much freedom. I would highly recommend this cottage to everyone you will not be disappointed.
Wow! This cottage was everything we imagined and then some. Beautifully and tastefully renovated and extended. Love the character of the old Station House, very warm central heating and the wood burner is a cosy addition. Well equipped kitchen and amazing water pressure, which gives a great shower. Good sized outdoor enclosed garden, great for our dogs, paved patio area at the back has a lovely hot tub, which we enjoyed several evenings. Super to find this amazing dog friendly house, in a great spot, whether to explore the wider Caithness straths and coasts, or archaeology, local corner shops on your doorstep to having a relaxing beauty treatment in the Spa 5 mins away, you won't be disappointed. We even extended our stay. Look forward to coming back, highly recommend. Best wishes, Magnus, Julie & dogs Poppy & Fido

Owners made a massive effort getting everything Christmas ready. The final small touches made all the difference. Extremely impressed overall and will definitely recommend and return.
Absolute little gem for a chilled and relaxed holiday. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, great shower. Remote location but no problems for supplies as close to local supermarket and town for shops and takeaways. Hopefully a return visit 2024
We had a great time during our stay at Station Cottage. The owners have put so much work and love to make it the ideal place to stay. The owners are so knowledgable in the local area and gave great recommendations of places to explore. The house itself itself is so well stocked with all the utensils you could need, and the lovely little extras like dog bed and treats. And soaking in the hot tub after a day exploring. Beautiful comfy beds, and cosy living room with the log burner. We where lucky enough to see the northern lights from the garden. Cannot recommend station house enough, we never wanted to leave. Thanks for having us.

It's even better than it looks in the pictures! Perfect place to explore the north eastwest coast. Host was a really lovely chap who runs the farm the cottage is on. Avoid the local Portland hotel though, worst meal I've ever had and was served with warm white wine. The local cafe does a great breakfast though and the staff are really warm and welcoming. I have already recommended this cottage to my family and friends and i look forward to staying there again soon.

Station House is a beautiful cottage full of history. We either found ourselves sat at night in the cosy living room with the wood burner on, or sat in the fantastic hottub outside looking at the stars and enjoying the quiet of the countryside.
Beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. Really clean and tidy. Great towels. Garden is perfectly enclosed. Would revisit.

The location was fantastic. Peaceful, safe and beautiful. The property was in lovely condition, beds comfortable great kitchen and shower. The landlord was fantastic and very helpful with local areas like beaches etc with easy access. We felt welcome and it is a dog friendly area. We did not want to leave. Hopefully we will return asap.
A stunning cottage that was clean and so well decorated, the kitchen was a pleasure to cook in with all the equipment and utensils you might need. The beds where comfy and the rooms really spacious for our family of 6. It was a peaceful location and nice and central to plenty of clean and lovely beaches. Lots of nice finishing touches including books, televisions in each room and a hot tub.
The cottage is situated in a quiet hamlet, just outside of Lybster. The area immediately surrounding the cottage is farmland, running along a small singlelane road and just off the A99, which is far enough away for the traffic to not be bothersome. Lybster is less than 5 minutes drive away, with a post office and wellstock shop, as well as a few nice walks. Wick is 15 minutes away and has a large Tesco and everything else you might need. That said, you do need to drive anywhere you want to go, as there are no footpaths on any of the surrounding roads, and walking is near impossible as cars tend to drive at very high speeds, even on the singlelane roads. The cottage itself is lovely, it has all the main amenities washer & dryer in the outhouse, dishwasher, fridgefreezer, 2 ovens !!, microwave, and a reasonablystocked kitchen with cooking tools. An extra cooking pot would be useful, as would some new chopping boards, but overall everything you need is there. There are three bedrooms, a living room, and an open kitchendining room. And one bathroom with a decent shower. There is also a woodburning fireplace, which is lovely, and the most amazing feature a hot tub. The hot tub was turned on and filled for when we arrived and you need only remove the cover to get in. We were in every day and 15 minutes in that tub is like a sauna in a good way, and you come out feeling relaxed. Perfect right before bed! Definitely a winning feature! The cottage is unusual in that it's surprisingly well decorated with highquality furniture and comfortable beds. No cheap Ikea furniture here. It's tasteful throughout and well considered. A lamp in the living room was the only thing we felt was missing, as we had to light candles to avoid the harshness of the overhead light. The cottage is dogfriendly, with a big, fullyenclosed yard, which surrounds the cottage from front to back. This was a great feature, as, already mentioned, there are no footpaths, so walking dogs is a bit of a challenge. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it. We not only found the cottage very comfortable, but the owner was very thoughtful in the small finishing touches, such as a dog bed and dog treats, adding washing tablets and clothes pegs...etc... all the small living details that are often missed.
Lovely house, had everything we needed as a family of four with two young children. Great base for exploring the North of Scotland. Hot tub was lovely for relaxing at night . Would definitely recommend.
