About Kingfisher House

Kingfisher House is a striking Victorian property set in the heart of Staithes, a traditional fishing village on the North Yorkshire coast. Spread across three floors, it keeps all its original character high ceilings, ornate coving, mosaic-tiled floors and stained-glass details while being fully modernised inside. The bay-fronted lounge has picture windows framing sea and countryside views.

Staithes is one of Yorkshire's most atmospheric coastal villages. Narrow cobbled streets lead down to a working harbour where cobles still land crab and lobster. There's a sheltered sandy beach, the Cleveland Way on the doorstep and connections to Captain Cook who worked here as a young man.

Sleeps 12 across six double bedrooms. Three first-floor doubles each have en-suite shower rooms and TVs. Two second-floor doubles have TVs (one includes table football). A further double has a TV. There's also a bathroom with a freestanding slipper bath and separate shower.

Whitby is 10 miles away (20 mins) with its 199 Abbey steps and award-winning fish and chips. Saltburn-by-the-Sea (8 miles/15 mins) has a Victorian cliff lift and pier. Guisborough Priory ruins are around 12 miles (20 mins). The Staithes Gallery is a short walk from the front door.

Kingfisher House suits large families and multi-generational groups perfectly. A private covered hot tub, dining table for 12 and a generous owner welcome pack make this a seriously well-equipped base on the Yorkshire coast.
