Waterside Lodge Sixteen Reviews

Fantastic stay at a beautiful lodge! (The only way it could be improved would be with a stair gate) Fantastic location for exploring the local area. We stayed as a party of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids, 2 dogs) The lodge was equipped with everything we could need in terms of kitchen equipment and utensils. A stair gate would have been beneficial, particularly for the highest floor! And the balcony glass was quite loose - not sure if this has been noticed but it’s very, very rickety. Staff were around every other day to add chemicals to the hot tub! Towels provided were beautifully fresh and fluffy! We would definitely return again! Thank you for a great stay

Where to start. We stayed as a family of 5 with a dog. The description says it is within a mile of a pub, true but the pub is permanently closed. There is nothing you can walk to and the surrounding area of the lodges is not maintained. It could so easily be a beautiful spot. The accommodation itself was also not great. The sofa was broken and had a slump. As did the outdoor sofa. The beds were not very comfortable either and probably need renewing. There were A LOT of area of damage that had either been ignored or badly repaired or just not finished (I have photos to evidence this). In the living room, the fire is on a glass plate, which gets very hot and is a danger for dogs and children and the handle feel off the fire door which we had to screw back on. There are no carpets within the property which makes it very noisy when people/dogs are walking around whilst others are trying to sleep. Going up towards the living area, the stairs are steep and the rail does not run the full length making it difficult for elderly people to go up and down.Outside, there is a ‘dog gate’ which is a wooden frame with large gaps, anything smaller than a Labrador would be able to escape. We will not be returning or recommending.

We had a lovely stay here and the views over lake and canal were so lovely. The way they have been designed with living quarters at top to make use of views mostly are great. The only downside I would say is the lack of storage space in the bedrooms. There are no where to hang clothes except few coat hangers. I would recommend a stay here though
