Walworth Castle Holiday Cottage Reviews

Another lovely stay in Walworth Cottage, dog friendly, comfortable beds, large fluffy bath towels, cosy and warm. The convenience of a two minute walk to the castle for lunch where the staff are very friendly and the food delicious. The only downside this time was the hot tub in the back garden needed to be on continuously through the night so if youre a light sleeper consider taking ear plugs for a decent nights sleep. Otherwise a great little getaway and well be back.
Christine
We had a lovely stay at the cottage we found it very relaxing and really enjoyed the hot tub. We have rebooked for December 2026 and we are spending new year there.
Andrea
Lovely cottage in a great location, very close to the hotel. It is really convenient to eat at the hotel and you can take your dog into the lounge. The staff were all really lovely and friendly. There is a small wood which is great to walk your dog in, in the morning. As others have mentioned the bathroom needs some attention and the hot tub lid is heavy to manoeuvre. One of our group found it a bit noisy in the double bedroom. Make sure to visit Archers up the road for lunch and ice cream. Would definitely recommend

I would give everything 10 stars but unfortunately 3 out of the 4 of us have broken out in a red spotty rash after staying here. After seeking medical help it is clear it has been the hot tub. Not being maintained and cleaned properly causes folliculitis. Which causes red spotty rash, can be itchy etc. Will clear up on its own hopefully soon. But nit very nice! And worrying. So hope the owner takes this on board and makes sure its cleaned properly and tested regularly. It was never tested during our stay of 3 nights. Other than that we loved the cottage.
Thoroughly enjoyed a 4 night break in the cottage, so much so have booked another one. The cottage had most things needed for a short break. Beds were comfortable, towels exquisite . No wardrobe in one of the bedrooms but not a problem for a short stay. The plus side was being able to walk to the castle for meals which were excellent, dog friendly and the staff were super. The only negative comment would be the welcome pack was more in keeping with a hotel bedroom rather than a holiday cottage, Also on our last stay in The Lodge there was a doggy welcome pack but thats just being picky. Looking forward to our next stay later this year.

On arrival we were left to wait even though we had a 3 o'clock check in, we tried at 3. 10 and were told its not ready because they haven't told me. The receptionist then went home leaving us sitting there and hadn't told anyone. On trying again, someone went to check and it had been ready since 3, they apologised and we checked in. We have stayed before so we knew the bathroom floor needed replacing as sunken and loose tiles, but it had just been covered lino so still moved. The hot tub had still not been replaced and now leaks, only half the jets work and some have covers missing. The food and drink in the hotel are excellent. Would we stay again, yes or maybe try the lodge next time.
The Cottage had a nice feel to it, bright and sufficiently spacious. One of the 2 seater settees wasn't particularly comfortable, you sank into the upholstery and with it being low down it was a bit of a challenge alighting. For 4 people the dining table was small but needed to be to fit into the open plan kitchenlounge. The large smart tv was welcome sited next to two large Impressionate prints on the wall. Cooking appliances were adequate, not that we needed them as we soon discovered the restaurant was really atmospheric, with nice staff, great quality food, good portions and well supervised by Ashley. Back at the Cottage the twin bedroom was huge however the double bedroom was smaller in comparison with no wardrobe, a shame as we were there for 8 nights. We're also used to a kingsize bed although the double bed mattress was comfy enough. A great asset was the hot tub situated in a very private area to the rear of the property, accessed by the double bedroom which also proved to be a natural suntrap. The castle was quite enchanting and we enjoyed the barbecue and singer at the weekend of our stay. Our dog made himself very relaxed in his temporary home and the gardens were pleasant to walk around, enjoying the various breeds of fowl on the pond, the wild garlicladen woods and the sheep in the next field. All in all, a very chilled stay close to several natural local wonders, if you could tear yourself away from the tranquility of Walworth Castle.
Cottage was lovely outside area needs more lighting around hot tub as the fairy lights didnt work and the outside light is at the other of the property. Garden chairs are very warn and the rattan on them was comming away and felt sharp when sitting other than that the property had everything we needed very cosy and staff were lovely food in the hotel was amazing and very good value for money
Belinda
Had a few problems with hot water in the shower, also had a problem with the temperature of the hot tub but that was dealt with promptly. Hot tub is quite old and not all the jets work properly.
Abigail
This holiday cottage was amazing, had everything we needed, Had all the facilities provided. Was a great stay!
Yvonne
We stayed for 12 nights the fridge only has an ice box, so very limited freezer space. The fridge didnt keep food cold, even when turned on full. Hot tub was a big issue, if it was topped up, it took hours to reheat, and rarely reached full temperature of 40. The lid was extremely heavy and it was a struggle for 2 adults to replace. This was changed at day three. Towels and bedding was replaced once during the 12 days. The rubbish was still there when we left no bin bags to replace when full. I also felt the hot tub area was extremely dark at night. The cottage itself was nice and with a few adoptions could actually be great.
Beautiful entrance to the castle grounds with great parking at the cottage. On arrival the cottage was lovely and warm and very welcoming. 2 good size bedrooms and a big bathroom, nice bedding, with plenty of towels. The living area is all in one which is really convenient, the kitchen is well stocked, meaning you have everything you need to cook with plenty of glasses, crockery and cutlery. In the sitting room area of the living quarter there are 2 sofas that are very comfortable and a good size smart tv. Outside is an enclosed yard which is perfect if you have a dog. The hot tub is lovely, sitting at about 40 and very clean. A couple of improvements could be made, but please don't let this put you off. A curtain across the front door would not only make it warmer but if you have the lights on, walking through the hallway at night you feel a little exposed as there is just nets over the large glass front door. A new bath panel and a little silicone would improve the bathroom which is lovely and the lights in the mirror unit need looking at. The top of the hot tub needs a bar to assist with the removal and closing as it is heavy. It's not for everyone but personally a TV in each of the bedrooms would be a great improvement. The above are little improvements in an otherwise beautiful cottage, with lovely grounds to walk around, that we will 100 be booking again. As a side note, I spoke to multiple members of staff while on site and everyone was extremely helpful and friendly, credit to the staff.

This was our 8th visit to this wonderful cottage. As always the cottage was spotlessly clean and warm. The staff at the hotel are so welcoming and friendly when we picked up the key and had a meal. The enclosed yard is perfect for our small dogs. We love the hot tub which is well maintained. Its the perfect location for exploring the area and small villages. We loved the new updates to the cottage. Just back and have already booked for next year and cant wait. Let the countdown begin.
