Beautiful home. Gorgeous entrance. Very spacious in every way.anll rooms annd bathrooms well maintained annd decorated lovely. Everything has been thought of. Hot tub was great. Owner very responsive to messages. Had a great weekend thank you

This is the third time we have been to the Powerhouse. A group of 14 friends, the house is perfect very clean and spacious, we booked early Christmas lunch at Kaskane a short walk which was fab. Already looking to book again for next year

The property was perfect for a large family gathering. The rooms were made up just as I asked, communication was great before and during stay and facilities were very good. There was a prob with one of showers, the large head didnt work, I spoke to the owner and he was very receptive. The small head worked although showers were coldish if more than one was in at once. Not a problem but could explain in information to make people aware. The hot tub was ideal sauna was infrared again no prob but could say this in information as use is different. The house looked generally clean but on closer inspection it does need a deep clean, the kitchen units, skirting boards and light switches windows etc need doing. It didnt detract from a great few days, we loved the house and had a good time. Thank you

Unfortunately 6 people had to sleep downstairs due to a fly infestation in the 2 rooms to the left of the property, we have killed them with fly spray and cleaned them up multiple times but dead flies just keep appearing on the beds and floors which makes this unsuitable for sleeping. We had absolutely no idea where they are coming from as all windows and doors were closed. Other than that the facilities were great

16 women for a retirement get away aged between 23 and 66 all had a ball. House tucked away in a corner of Skinningrove, short walk to an amazing beach and views. A pub and restaurant a couple of minutes walk away. Its a beautiful house with plenty of rooms including 2 lounges, so you can have your own space if needed. 1 lounge can seat everyone comfortably as does the dining room. Beds very comfortable and plenty of ensuites and bathrooms. Hot tub perfect in its own house perfect temperature and checked daily. The house is advertised with 2 kitchens but there is only 1, however this is large enough to cater for all people staying. Would definitely stay here again if the occasion arose.

The Power House was ideal for our family celebration, comfortable, spacious, good facilities and in a great location.

Had a fantastic week at the Power House, plenty of room for 10 adults, 4 children and 4 dogs. Well equipped for all our needs, the hot tub was well used, great to be able to sit everyone down together in the dining room at meal times. Skinningrove beach is absolutely gorgeous, we were blessed with great weather for April, kids loved every minute on there. Walks along the Cleveland Way for those who wanted to and had trips out to Saltburn and Staithes.

We had the most wonderful weekend, celebrating our daughters 40th birthday, at the Powerhouse, the property ticked all our boxes, and more than accommodated our party of 8 adults, 5 grandchildren and 4 dogs. Having a very large and comfortable family lounge enabled us all to spend quality time together, whilst the small lounge enable 'quiet time' for us grandparents when needing a few moments to chill, as well as a play area for the little ones when needed. Family sized kitchen, having all the appliances you could think of and would need, as well as a huge dining room, incorporating a poolsnooker table for entertainment which was well used Ample bedrooms for all the families, clean, tidy and comfy beds, birthday girl and her hubby loved their double four poster, ensuite The jaquzzi was a bonus and was well used throughout our stay Mike was on hand via phone if we needed him Overall we had a lovely time, and would definately book the Powerhouse again and recommend it to any large familygroup Iris, Steve & Family February 2025

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Powerhouse and have already booked our 3rd weekend. Our first stay was to celebrate a 50th and this time we decided to have a late Christmas get together. Theres plenty of room there was 16 adults the house is gorgeous, very clean and warm. Between our stays the kitchen area has been updated which is perfect for larger number of guests. We would highly recommend and cant wait to go back. Thank you to Mike for everything

Stayed at the Powerhouse for the weekend to celebrate a 70th birthday. The house has everything needed to accommodate large parties, plenty of room and well situated to visit Whitby, Saltburn and other areas. We were so impressed we've booked another weekend for next year!

Electric shower water pressure poor resulting in slow trickle of water. Iron spiral staircase is dangerous for head injury for a taller person

We all had a fabulous time at the powerhouse there was 12 people and 3 large ... We all had a fabulous time at the powerhouse there was 12 people and 3 large dogs and we had lots of space in the house and garden, the hottub and steam room were used by all, we would recommend this house to everyone, the owners were available if we needed them and kept on top of checking the hottub, fabulous stay Thank you x

Everything about the stay was simply amazing! ! The rooms were exactly as described and the facilities here are great. Not far from the beach, gorgeous and spacious hot tub with the sauna. Would highly recommend and revisit The Power House.

The powerhouse was brilliant property for our Hen Party. Intimate enough for us all to be together but large enough to give people space. Mike was brilliant. Thank you we had such fun

Overall the Powerhouse was fine for a few days, however on arrival the bedroom on the mezzanine level had not been hoovered with the carpet covered in black fluff and grass. The left hand oven doesn't work as well as the right side and took a long time to cook anything. The number and selection of glasses for a large party was poor with only wine glasses. Luckily we had brought plastic glasses to use ourselves. No liquid soap or soaps in any of the bathrooms was unusual. More tea towels for a large party would have been helpful. Plus a hand towel or two in the kitchen. The dishwasher didn't clean the dishes so we needed to wash most of them again, and it needed saltrinse aid. Not having a dishwasher myself I wasn't familiar with what to do. I've booked Sykes cottages regularly for years and there's always been some basics provided. These things little tweaks make it more stars on reviews. I would recommend it to others but if you're not used to cottage holidays you wouldn't be prepared with what basics you need to take with you.

We absolutely loved our stay. The house and location was lovely. Would definitely recommend and will definitely come back.

Whilst we had a great time with our family over our stay, we found the property to be really dirty. The floors and tables all needed cleaning by use before we used them. The pots and crockery available wasn't adequate for the number of guests accommodated. We had to go out and buy our own wine glasses so that everyone had one of their own. We found a lot of the crockery and cutlery dirty as well and needed to wash most items before use. The main king size bedroom to the right of the property had paint crumbling from the walls which fell all over the floor when the window was opened. We think the Powerhouse is a great location for family get togethers but is needs some serious TLC and a good clean.

It was one of our lovely and great cottage and place we have visit.

Just a few minor things the main ensuite bedroom door doesnt close without slamming it and the bathroom door doesnt lock. Also, the bed settee isnt very comfortable at all and the person who slept on it didnt sleep very well. We had a lovely time here and there was plenty of room for all of us including the dogs!

Fantastic place for large groups to stay. Would definitely recommend. Perfect location for exploring the area. Had a great week.

We had a fantastic few days at the Power House. As a multi generational family gathering, we found the accommodation catered for all members. Table football and pool table a big hit with some, whilst the hot tub was a real bonus for others. Would thoroughly recommend this house for similar parties.

Absolutely gorgeous property. We loved it, loved the location. It suited our party of 12 people aged between 13 73, plus a dog for a Christmas weekend away. We enjoyed a walk down to coast and walked along the beach one day and then a drive into Staithes for lunch the next. The Christmas decorations were lovely in the property.

13 ladies of varying ages from 14 66 had the most enjoyable weekend celebrating the 40th birthday of one of our party. From the moment we stepped through the door we were impressed with whole house. The two lounges were a bonus as was having two kitchens. Both kitchens were fully equipped and met all our needs. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the showers were modern and clean. Just one little observation would be that the bottom of the showers were rather slippy. The hot tub and sauna were well utilised by our party! We would definitely recommend The Power House to anyone considering this property

We had an amazing weekend at The Power House. We were expecting to find the place dirty having looked at previous reviews but it was perfect. The location & facilities were great. 75 of the group said the beds were the comfiest night sleep and a few disagreed but that might just be personal preference of a good bed! We had multiple showers at same time and had no issues with temperatures. The only thing I would say the place needed was oven gloves and some more oven trays. The hot tub was great and an amazing size. Everyone said they would come back again!

This was a lovely cottage with lovely facilities and ample room for 17 guests. We had a lovely girls weekend away and it was gorgeous, to make it even better we had lovely weather! Plenty of bathrooms, kitchen facilities and seating. Garden space was a good size and hot tub was great. Would definitely come back here!

The whole place could now do with some money spending on it, whilst we agree its an impressive building and fitted our needs ideally, the place could now do with a freshen up, cracked shower panels, seals on ovens and around showers are not good, and a more in depth clean, not just surface clean. One of the ovens is a little difficult to light. Other than that we enjoyed our stay, good amenities, idealy located.

We had an amazing stay at the Powerhouse in Skinningrove despite the uncleanliness of the house. I will start with the positives The house was an amazing size for our party of 12 and 3 small dogs. The entrance is stunning with an amazing feature staircase. The 2 kitchens and 2 lounges made it easy for us not to be on top of one another. The hot tub, sauna and snooker table were amazing. Unfortunately as soon as we arrived we noticed that the property was not just unclean but very dirty. We go away every year to a holiday let and this is the first time we have encountered such uncleanliness. We had read this on other feedback but didn't deter us as thought it was maybe just on those occasions. It is clear to see that this property lacks love and attention and all of the party commented on how unclean it was. Unfortunately, we will not return to this house which is a shame as it was perfect in every other way. This really needs a deep clean from top to bottom and maybe a larger team of cleaners between lets.

Absolutely loved this property! It was huge, comfortable and had everything we could wish for to make our stay perfect. We will definitely be booking this property again for our next family get together, hopefully next year.

Wow, had an amazing weekend stay at The Powerhouse for my belated 50th birthday with my friends. Its a beautiful house with enough beds for 15 people, everything was there what we needed in the kitchen. The hot tub and sauna is lovely after a day out walking around Whitby. The only thing I would recommend is hairdryers for the bedrooms, but apart from that we all had a fantastic weekend. There is a pub literally 2 minutes away and the food is great and huge portions. Great communication with the owner of the house, and I would 100 recommend this house for familyfriends Christmas etc gatherings.

Stayed at this house for 2 nights 8 people and our dogs, there was sooo much room it was great! ! Hot tub was amazing!! Staircase was gorgeous. But then when you get a closer look it's very dated, laminated upstairs so very loud when walking on it. Wasn't the cleanest of places, very dusty and a lot of painting needed!

We stayed at the property as a break for our big family. The property couldnt have suited our stay any better, allowing lots of space for us to be together yet allowing time for quiet space if needed. The pool table and hot tub kept us all busy and the property was very child friendly. We will definitely be considering returning next year.

Had a wonderful stay here at The Power House for my 60th birthday celebrations. ........6 adults, 3 grandchildren and 3 dog's. Absolutely fantastic stay, plenty room with us all to spread around. I'll start with the positive stuff........lovely and warm once we got the heating on. Beds comfortable, lovely powerful showers. Spacious bedrooms.Two very spacious kitchens with all the amenities you need. Absolutely fantastic, huge hot tub or as my grandson called it the pool spent endless hours in there, absolutely loved it, and there's a nice sauna, all in a separate huge summer house kind of building. Two huge lounges just incase you want to get away from any of your noisy family. Pool table came in handy to give each other a thrashing at pool, and there's also a game of air hockey too. We took our own board games, but from what I could see, there where games in the cupboards, can't comment further as I didn't get them out to look at. Lovely front, secure, spacious garden for the dogoes to run round in, can imagine it would be absolutely gorgeous in warmer weather. Gorgeous beach about 10 minutes drive away, flipping cold though but it was 15th and 16th January. Couple of negative things to point out........ One of the radiator's in the lounge where black sofa's are didn't work, and with it being middle of January it made a big difference to the heating in that lounge, was quite cool, but after a few board games and a few drinks, we soon warmed up. The bath panel in the far bedroom down corridor had pieces missing from it at the top , some of the blinds looked a bit tired, like the ensuite one in the above bedroom mentioned. Some of the bed pillows could do with changing, they where rather flat. The air hockey table could do with a screen in one side of the legs. And I also noticed in the lounge where the grey sofas are, the left window as you walk in, some of the plaster on the right side of frame is all flaking off. Child gates could also do with updating, they where a bit naff, and not so child safe. It was just the smaller things like this that I marked the property down on with star rating. But can I just add, none of this had an impact on the wonderful time we all had, we truly did have a lovely time. And considering how big the house is, we did have it lovely and warm and cosy. So Mike owner..........sort these minor things out and the star ratings I'm sure will increase. Thank you for a wonderful stay x
