Marigold Lodge Reviews

Andrew
Excellent place to stay people very helpful and friendly in the area.
Debbie
This is our second time staying at Marigold Lodge, a real home from home. Amazing location, beds super comfortable, plenty of storage for clothes etc. Loved the hot tub, the kids used it everyday, we will be back again.
Rachel
Had a lovely weekend, lodge was spotless and extremely quiet, great location walking distance to a lovely pub and the hot tub was a bonus! The weekend went so quickly but we were lucky enough to book another night, and have already booked for next year. Only one downfall we were unable to find an airer to hang towels and costumes to dry.
Rhiannon
Although the Lodge in general was of a good standard and clean there are a few issues that we feel for the money paid need addressing The outdoor table is completly unusable, the wood that has been placed on top presumably to replace a glass top is completly warped and not secured to the structure. it can not be used at all for drinks or to eat.We noticed that this has been commented on from previous reviews so find it unacceptable that this has not been replaced as an outdoor table is something you would expect as a minimum for a lodge break. The dining table chairs were also unusable all legs are loose of them, they are of very cheap quality but also present a danger.these need looking at, it was only by chance we noticed when pulling one out to sit on a leg buckled, we then checked the rest and all were the same. The twin beds in the second bedroom are not suitable for adults.they are more like camp beds for children and would not be what you would expect in a lodge or caravan. Although the site itself was lovley and the lodge clean and modern, we would not return for the money paid and issues we had.we expect much better maintenance and quality for the advertised standard and price.
Elaine
We have stayed at Marigold lodge before and always enjoy it. This time we noticed that there were some little repairs that could have been done, which would have made it 5 stars. Its been mentioned before by others in reviews but the outside table looks awful with a warped tatty piece of wood put on it, I suspect due to glass being broken in the past. We couldnt eat outside as the wood was too warped to put plates on. I bought a cheap tablecloth to cover horrible wood. We also had a faulty tap in kitchen that was loose at top and drenched you every time you turned it on. We reported it but have no idea if anyone looked at it as appeared in same condition throughout. We still had a great time and live the area, but will probably look at somewhere else to stay when we return next year.
Thomas
I stayed here with my partner and dog, its a great location been a 5 minute walk to the beach.
Richard
Only issues were the gate latch on the lodge was broken and none of the outdoor lights on lodge were working
Sharon
Lovely accommodation very comfortable and very clean. We didnt use the hot tub way too much chlorine. The outside table glass still broken noticed in reviews from July 2024 that it was broken really should have replaced it by now it let the whole presentation down didnt use it didnt want people to think we were the poor neighbours. And the bottom step from the lodge very high i had broken my ankle in June and found I had to step down backwards to stay safe. Maybe add a small bottom step. So only a couple of issues over all lovely area and enjoyable lodge and site.
Denise
4 Night break with the dog. The lodge was great and easy to find behind the hotel. The lodge was clean and tidy and included everything we needed. The hot tub was great and private. We found Runswick bay lovely and we had a short walk to the beach but the hill was very steep, There was an option to drive down the hill and park the car. Overall we loved the lodge and Runswick bay and would love to stay again.
A shortage of some table ware and cooking utensils the windows could use a good clean patio doors full of condensation due to faulty double glazing units N0 cleaning products for toilets or kitchen.
Sharron
To say we paid over 1000 for our stay I was quite disappointed. In the advert is a beautiful gift hamper.. we got a packet of biscuits.. The picture of the dining area outside looked inviting and smart, ours was a piece of shabby wood which couldnt really be used..The outside steps are fairly steep, especially the bottom one .. I use walking sticks and needed help with the bottom one every time, this should definitely be mentioned.. Also there was items still down the sofa.. Apart from that the lodge was a pleasure to stay in!!! Would recommend the hotel for a meal .. it might be bit more costly but its sooo worth it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Marigold Lodge and can certainly see ourselves returning in the future. The location is so peaceful and everyone we met were very friendly. The only thing I could say is that the hot tub did self activate quite often and throughout the night which did disturb sleep somewhat but I just assume this is a cleaning function.
Steven
Lovely holiday, well equipped. Would definitely recommend.
Elaine
Just returned from a fantastic 10 day stay. The lodge was immaculate and very well equipped. Its ideally placed to explore all the beautiful villages and coastal places round the area. I would have given it a five star if it had a couple of additional things. It was lacking a dishwasher, although dishwasher tablets were left which was odd and also a washing machine. Ive been to similar lodges and they have these things. It would also benefit from a blackout blind in bedroom as gets bright as early as 5 am. These are minor things and didnt stop us having a fantastic time, just suggestion of ways of improving further. Would highly recommend, Runswick Bay is beautiful.

Stephen
Very good facilities. spotlessly clean. good communication. only downside of the lodge was position of the hot tub. it wasnt and didnt feel private in any way. hot tub itself though was very good.
Rachel
The lodge was very nice and comfortable. We was pleasantly suprised at how well equipped it was. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. The beds were very comfy. On arrival the place looked clean and tidy however after being there for 5 mins my socks got covered in dog fur from a previous tenant. Luckily there was a hoover in the cupboard so I could hoover up all the dog hair. The fridge and freezer had also been left off so they were warm and a bit stinky when we arrived. The hot tub was perfect for us as a family of 3. But you would struggle to fit 4 adults in comfortably. We also wasn't too keen on the location of marigold lodge on the park itself as the hot tub sat right on the drive way. Which was fine when sitting in as the fence created privacy But when we got out of the hot tub we were on display to anyone passing by. There is parking for 1 car and they are small spaces. When we arrived a neighbour had also parked right next to our lodge as they had 2 cars. They wanted to leave it there but we requested they move it as it was right by our hot tub area. But there is limited additional parking. All of these issues were minor to us though and didn't spoil our time away. The location was perfect for us to explore the coast. Whitby, Robin hoods bay, falling Foss and Scarborough. It was very quiet there too which we liked and we visited the pub round the corner which served delicious food. We would return again in the future but maybe book a different lodge which has more privacy.
Debbie
Fantastic week at Marigold Lodge, everything you could need. Home from home, the added bonus would have been a clothes airer but the site does have a dryer so we could manage for our stay. 1010. Comfy beds, very clean, we dont have a dog but you certainly couldnt tell it is a property that allow dogs. Fantastic location, 10 minute walk down to the beach, it is very steep walking up and down but so worth it, clean beach with a cafe and ice cream shop, toilets and parking. A very short walk is Runswick Bay Hotel at the entrance to the site which serve amazing food and the staff are fantastic. We will be back!

The only problem with the property is the water pressure and the noise it generates I found slightly disturbing otherwise fantastic accomodation a bit isolated if your bringing children if you don't get the weather they find it boring we had some bad weather which also brought problems with the TV and WiFi otherwise fantastic place
An excellent small site, the lodge was in the prime position. The hot tub was excellent and easy to operation and access.
Top class site, would recommend the Lodge's on this site to everyone who likes the home from home feeling.
