Stay here as a solo traveller or as a couple for a memorable break hiking through spectacular countryside and discovering picturesque villages and traditional pubs. The small-but-perfectly-formed dwelling is in a pretty rural location between two national parks, with the best that Yorkshire has to offer right on your doorstep. Renovated to an exceptional standard, this sweet Grade-II-listed property marries historical features with modern luxury for an inviting atmosphere. An exposed stone wall on one side, and pretty, original wooden ceiling beams in the bedroom create an atmospheric setting. Step into a cosy kitchen-diner, perfectly arranged to make the most of the space, with the sink tucked away under the stairwell and a small eating area for candlelit meals. On sunny days, take your plates out to the courtyard to soak up views over the formal parterre gardens as you tuck in. The downstairs bathroom features a monsoon shower for a hotel-like washing experience. Upstairs, a welcoming double bedroom with a Juliet balcony creates a comfy sleep spot. Nearby, wander to the pub 0.5 miles away or take a short drive to a pretty market town like Bedale or Leyburn (4.5 miles and 8.5 miles respectively). Plan day hikes through the popular Dales, trekking through undulating hills and sweeping valleys, or perhaps exploring the scenic moorlands of Nidderdale (19 miles), an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 14th-century Bolton Castle (14.5 miles) makes a wonderful day trip, while the dog will love the woodland walk to the gushing Aysgarth Falls (15 miles).

We ended up staying here unexpectedly after our original booking fell throughand honestly, it turned out to be a lovely surprise! The cottage and its surroundings are really picturesque, perfect for a relaxing break. The hot tub was great, especially since it's a decent size. Just a heads up, the water tank is small, so showers can get chilly. The host was super friendlyand we appreciated the free bread, butterand eggs. Only downside was the outside light near the hot tub didn't workand the sink was a bit tricky to use, but overall, a lovely stay!

We really enjoyed our stay and New Year at the summer house. It was the perfect way to see in 2023. The hot tub was faband we definitely recommend the drop and dip service to have it ready and warm on your first night - we didn't take advantage of it, but we'd definitely do it next time. If you sit still, the light goes outand you can just gaze at the stars. The accommodation was wonderful and incredibly well laid out, plus the bed was really cosy and comfy too. Highly recommended!

We had an absolutely superb weekendand the cottage and surroundings were just beautiful! The renovation is done to a pristine level. It's really quaint, quiet, cleanand perfect for a couple's getaway. The hot tub was lovely. It heated up in no time and kept its warmth really well. Considering the weather, I thought it might be cold at night, but it was so cosy and warm. We enjoyed listening to the wind howling while curled up in bed watching the telly. We would definitely recommend this place and are keen to return. Absolutely beautiful!

What a gorgeous cottage and setting! It wasn't the easiest to find, but once we took the track leading to it, it felt like we were leaving the world behind. So quiet and peaceful with stunning views. The cottage was clean and really well thought out for maximum use of space. The kitchen had all sorts of handy appliances and was spotless. The hot tub was private and intimateand Karl was a fantastic host, always accommodating if we needed anything during our stay!

What a perfect spot for a couple's retreat! It's small but incredibly cosy and really well designed, so you never feel like you're missing out on anything. The tower is just half a mile down a private road to the farm, so the views are stunningand at night, all you can hear are the owls and pheasants.
