Ash Tree Lodge Reviews

We needed a lovely quiet rest and this is just what Ash Tree Lodge provided, a cosy retreat. Its in a really peaceful spot and although we had every type of weather, from bight sunshine to rain, hail and snow, we dodged the showers to make the most of the lovey hot tub and lit the log burner when it snowed. We look forward to returning in the future.
Christine
Wonderful week at Ash Tree Lodge. The accommodation is spacious but has a cosy feel, the conservatory is light and comfortable perfect for an afternoon of reading and relaxing. We made great use of the hot tub and the log burner was perfect for the cooler evenings. Sadly both pubs in the village are no longer open but we had a lovely meal at The Shakespeare Inn at Hedon, very welcoming and dog friendly. Some lovely walks straight from the cottage, even saw a herd of deer grazing in the field. Highly recommend.
Eileen
Had a lovely quiet break. Had everything there that you need. A bit of wind damage To the fence as you come in on the right hand side which allowed the Alsatian next door to put his paws over and say hello but the owner did say he would be getting that fixed. We just had to keep an eye on our dog not to get too excited. Yes I would definitely stay there again .
The Lodge was excellent very well thought out you could not fault a thing. Lovely welcome extras Charlie, dog loved the garden and hot but great. Loads of lovely walks and everyone we meet were very nice. Only down size both pubs were closed up for sale but that's of Chris and his wife's hand but a few nice places to eat 5 mins drive away. I would definitely recommend Ash Tree Lodge and we will be booking again x
Jacqueline
Had a wonderful week in Ash Tree Lodge the weather helped a lot. The cottage is extremely comfortable and has everything you need. The garden is fantastic and it was important to us to be secure, which it was, for our wee spaniel. Hot tub was a bonus in the cooler evenings. Overall a very relaxing week in a lovely cottage. We'd definitely come back.
Very comfortable stay and would rebook when in this area again. Thank you.
If peace and quiet is what you are looking for Ash Tree Lodge is the perfect retreat. I have stayed in a good many delightful Sykes Cottages, and this is arguably the best. The furnishings throughout are tasteful and elegant. The kitchen is compact and everything works! Chris and Frances have thought of everything you might need to cater for yourself. I should mention here that the handbook they compiled for visitors is a work of genius because it has been compiled alphabetically. It is also comprehensive. A neat touch is the instructions for any item that might seem counterintuitive. I slept beautifully every night in the stylish bedroom with its many lamps. The shower which worked simply and intuitively! unlike some provided powerful and instant hot water. The real gem is the conservatory, which looks out onto an immaculate lawn and the eponymous ash tree. I enjoyed reading in there in the evenings. I have to confess to playing like a kid with the controls for the ceiling fan. What with the fan and its large tulipshaped lamps, and the huge potted plants, there is a hint of the Raj about it. A good excuse for a gin and tonic. There is a garden table and chairs with a large canvas parasol. Also a hot tub which I didnt use. There is a convenience store three minutes away and the seaside is a fifteen minute drive. A perfect getaway gem.

What a lovely, peaceful location. The property was very cosy with a good mix of warmth and plenty of light in the conservatory. The facilities were excellent with a comfortable bed and good shower with bath and hot tub towels. The hot tub was a welcome addition first thing in the morning and later in the day after exhilarating walks. The garden was very secure for our labrador who enjoyed the sniffs. There were plenty of places to visit for dog walks not far from the property although we struggled to find dog friendly pubs close by. The milk, chocolate, biscuits and small bottles of prosecco were a thoughtful touch. Definitely recommend and wouldn't hesitate to return.
Outstanding cottage. Warm, confortable and clean. Exceptionally large property for only 2 people. 5 star welcome pack. Secure private garden. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
Superb week away at Ash Tree Lodge came home completely relaxed extremely ... Superb week away at Ash Tree Lodge came home completely relaxed extremely comfortable bed and furnishings we couldnt fault anything a truly exceptional holiday cottage and very generous and caring hosts, recommended to friends and family already
What a fantastic place to stay, very homely and welcoming. The bed was extremely comfy my wife wants to buy the mattress!!!. Very well kitted out, cosy and clean. Thank you for a wonderful stay! 10 out of 10.
Robert
A lovely roomy cottage stay. The kitchen, dinning and living area with log burner is very nice. Then there is the large roomy conservatory which is warm and very relaxing with lovely views of the secluded garden with a smashing hot tub. The bedroom and bathroom are very spacious too, making the cottage a home from home. We found some great Bridleways to walk and cycle on around the village and to the nearby village of Roos. We have had many lovely cottage breaks in the last few years and Ash Tree Lodge is up there at the Top of some fabulous holiday lets. Many thanks.
We had a lovely time for our second stay. Cottage was just as we remembered it. Small problem with hot tub rectified immediately. Had to leave early due to illness. Only thing I could recommend is to have a television in bedroom for us that was the only thing missing.
We recently had a week's stay at Ash Tree Lodge and the place is absolutely gorgeous and had everything you need for a very relaxing week, it's a place I could of happily lived in forever. The gifts left for us was a lovely welcome surprise. The place was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hot tub was lovelyclean and very nice to go in, in the evenings. One local pub made us and our dog very welcome, with dog treats and even a dog bed for her to lay in. They weren't doing food when we stayed but should be now. The other pub NOT dog friendly. The only slight negative for us, and really and only on a personal level was the sofachair were not reclining ones to put tired legs up. The smokers shelter was the best we have ever seen and my partner was well pleased when it dropped cool. We would definitely return and highly recommend
Lianne
The cottage was lovely, just as it was pictured on website. The enclosed garden was perfect for our small dog. The owner was extremely helpful, including putting on lights for our very late arrival due to an eventful journey there. He came to check we were OK, the following morning. The hot tub was lovely, sadly we couldn't use it one evening due to the smokedust from the neighbouring farm. A lovely base to return to after our days out and about
Lovely cottage, everything you need . Peaceful and quiet just what we wanted. Lovely private garden ,our dog settled in quickly. Hot tub was great after a day out. We will definitely book this cottage again.
Stephen
A warm, cosy & very comfortable cottage. It exceeded our expectations.
Lovely stay. Very relaxing which was just what we wanted. Hot tub was great. Not much in the way of places to eat out or places to visit but that didn't bother us as we just wanted to hibernate for a few days and recharge our batteries which we did!
Beautiful cottage with a lovely enclosed garden for the dog to run around in. Although only a one bedroom the conservatory was large and the property felt very spacious, with charming decor throughout. The hot tub was wonderful to relax in each afternoon after exploring the area. We had a lovely Sunday lunch in the Black Bull which was just a 5 minute walk away. Didn't try the other village pub as they weren't dog friendly. We particularly enjoyed our day at Hornsea with fantastic fish and chips from Sullivan's on the sea front. All in all we had a great holiday.
Absolutely fabulous! What a hidden gem ash tree lodge is. Comfortable, spacious, clean and well appointed. Thank you Chris for a memorable stay. We tried the black bull in burton pidsea once and didnt return which says it all really, we were unable to try the Nancy as they are not dog friendly. However the Stag Inn at Lelley is dog friendly and fabulous, especially if you go on Thursday night which is Steak night. Withernsea beach great for the dog so long as you get there for low tide.
Beautiful lodge, everything and more than expected. Unfortunately had to leave through unforeseen circumstances due to illness, but would definitely be back to enjoy this beautiful property. Chris our host was very helpful, and not at all intrusive. Fully recommend, this is our 26th cottage with Sykes, certainly number one on our list, Thank you Chris, hopefully see you next year. Margaret and Celia and Tilly
Beverley
We had such a nice time at this lovely place. Ash Tree lodge is a beautiful cottage, well thought out, beautifully furnished and decorated and has everything you could want for a relaxing week. Burton Pidsea is a lovely and friendly village as are all the places we visited. Recommend Melbourne butchers in Roos and the Roos Arms. There are miles of walks through the fields which are great if you have a dog. The hot tub at night was perfect and Chris is a welcoming host. We wish we'd booked for two weeks!!
Anthony

Michael
Beautiful accommodation. Very well equipped and spacious. We loved our stay. Sitting in the conservatory of an evening just looking out at the garden was so relaxing.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, especially the bed. Very well equipped with everything we needed and the large garden was perfect for the dog.Only a 10 minute walk to the very welcoming pub which was really dog friendly. All in all a very pleasant week in this superb cottage.
Eileen
This was our first holiday since before covid as my husband is very frail and vunerable and we had the most lovely time! The cottage was extremely comfortable and luxurious and the owners made us feel very welcome. It was so nice we weren't bothered much about going out and about! I enjoyed the hot tub and our dog loved exploring the very secure pretty garden. Was a long journey for us but well worth it! Thankyou Chris for your help and tips on where best to eat out, we appreciated it. 5 STARS!
Ash tree lodge is somewhere that you will want for nothing. Everything you might need is supplied. We had a very comfortable stay there. We did pick a bad time to be there while the nearby farm seemed to have a lot of burning to do which made our walks around the area not too pleasant in parts.
Absolutely loved the cottage and the surroundings! Came last year and will definitely be coming back again in the future! It's a perfect location for a couple and dog.
A very enjoyable spring break. The layout for 2 people is perfect, with the conservatory being the jewel in the Crown. Some feedback given directly which was appreciated... Thankyou for the quietness, serenity and comfort...
A very comfortable stay for the 2 of us and our dog. Our experience was only slightly spoiled but a couple of minor issues which should be able to be resolved quite easily Only 2 knives, forks, spoons, tspoons in the property. Whats the problem? Theres just the 2 of us, right? Of course thats correct but a set of 6 would have enabled us to make sandwiches, slice fruit, have dinner and have enough to do the same on the following day. The cutlery we were left was not of an expensive quality so no risk of theft, although we did feel that we werent to be trusted. Nitpicking again Im afraid but as we used the log burner every night, we also used the fireside tool set to clean up after each night. The hand brush was our issue and had clearly seen better days as far a bristles were concerned given enough time and inclination both in short supply we could have counted the individual bristles on our fingers. Ok, that was an exaggeration but hope you get the point. On the positive side, a free supply of logs was made available for the duration of our stay we've never found this before at any other rental properties. Thats about it. Please dont let the points above put you off. They are trivial but annoyed us somewhat so felt the need to make the owners aware.
We had a great holiday. We loved the conservatory to sit in and the hot tub to ease our aching legs after walking. There is so much to see within walking distance from the house without having to drive anywhere, the local paths and bridleways are clearly marked. We especially enjoyed the walk to Roos and the pie from the butchers! The property is quirky, well equipped and very cosy. Indy the dog loved the safe enclosed garden.
Andrew
Excellent property stayed for New Year everything you could need was there really enjoyed stay
Amanda
Absolutely beautiful, cosy cottage with everything you need for a relaxing holiday! The garden was completely secure for our dog and so private we could relax in the hot tub without worry of being disturbed. The cottage itself was immaculately clean, very comfortable and surprisingly spacious for two! We would love to return to this tranquil little place
Elaine
Been here severa times now. Love it Situated down a lane, with footpaths near by to walk your dog. lovely big garden. This is attached to owners house, on hand if you have any problems. Hot tub amazing. the cottage larger when you get in it. The loughdinnerkitchen is all in one room, but you have the conservatory room, the bed is huge and so comfortable. The village has a pub which we have eaten at least 6 times and always had a brilliant meal. If you looking to relaxe and unwind this is the prefect place. There is a small area outside to clean any muddy paws.
Lovely place to stay. Absolutely nothing to complain about.
We stayed here for a week, 2 adults 1 large dog. Couldnt recommend it highly enough. Very clean and comfortable, well kept property. Id certainly go as far as saying the pictures dont do it enough justice. The owner seemed very friendly when he called over just before our departure but thats the only time we saw him, very secluded even being an annex on another house. Well probably book this again in future, outstanding little place and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Christine
What a wonderful week its been at Ash Tree Lodge, a beautiful place to stay, its so well equipped you dont want for anything also the weather was great which makes any holiday. The hot tub was so relaxing after the days out exploring the Yorkshire coast line. Highly recommend Ash Tree lodge. Thank You for the treats on arrival Chris, Alan & Toby the Bichon
Quality accommodation and garden. Privacy in a rural setting. Well placed for exploring local coastal towns and villages.
Pamela
A beautifully presented holiday home which was just like the pictures online. We were there during the exceptionally high temperatures and the owner popped around with a fan and to check everything was okay. The garden was secure for our dog which was a relief as we could relax knowing she had freedom to wander in and around the trees and shrubs. We'd definitely return and recommend.
Sheila
